Mick Ives

Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Thule=–CNP, Owner and Team Director—Mick Ives ( Baginton ) showed signs of getting back to some sort of form , when he won the fastest Veteran on Standard award , in the tough Wyre Forest 14 ml Hilly Time Trial, Nr Gt Whitley Worcestershire on Saturday.

Ives won by 40secs, but was over 1 minute slower , than his winning time 12 months ago.—“I will just have to step up the training” Ives said, as he continued to mix Road Racing and Time Trials for next few months.before going out to do some riding in the French Alps, over many of the climbs used for the Tour de France, and back in time to lead riders on the very tough 2 day Tom Sabin Mem. Challenge ride from Coventry to Much Wenlock ( Shropshire ) –the birthplace of the Modern day Olympic Games—the 186 ml ride was the idea of Ives to celebrate both the Olympic Games and the fact that the first 3 Cycle Racing events were won by Coventry Cyclist Tom Sabin from Earlsdon—riders wishing to participate in the Challenge can obtain details from  enquires@transport-museum.co.uk max of 50 riders will be on the ride, so interested riders better hurry.

Team Jewson’s Coventry star Triathlete, Samantha Anderson , competing for Gt .Britain in the European Duathlon Championships in Ireland, finished a brilliant 9th, despite obtaining mechanical problems on the Cycling leg, when she hit a large Pot Hole , and needed to stop to attend to the rear wheel, the incident possibly cost her 6th place.

The Event was made up of 10km Run, followed by 40km Cycle and 5 km Run—Samantha will slowly build up to the World Championships later in the season.

Personal best times were achieved by Husband and Wife members of the Team– Adrian and Wendy Kerby, when they competed in the Notts and East Mids 10 ml Time Trial nr Tuxford.

Adrian recorded a life time best of 23 mins 10 secs, and Wendy a life time best of 26-03.

In the first round of the 2011 Percy Stallard National Road Race series in Cheshire last years runner up Ex Professional Phil Wilkins finished 4th and Winner for past 2 seasons Warwicks top rider John Stevenson finished 5th

Stevenson was part of the main breakaway group that was clear for over 30 of the 60 mls, but caught just 5 miles from the finish, the flat course failing to split the field resulting in a large bunch finish.
