The U.K.’s leading Road Race rider over 50 years Mike Twelves once again dominated –this time at Round 4 of the 6 event series, of the Percy Stallard National Road Race series held at Great Limber Nr Grimsby. Lincs.
Twelves who won the British Veterans Championships last weekend with a brilliant solo ride, once again faced stiff competition. Having won the National series for the past 2 seasons, Twelves, has had an even bigger challenge this time because of injuries he had to miss the first 2 rounds of the series, and with best 4 events to count meant his rivals already had a head start. He won Round 3 convincingly and on Sunday he was a marked man. A break away went early and had a lead of over 2mins, before he was finally able to break clear of the main field with 1 other rider. It took 25 miles before they caught the leaders with just 1 ½ miles to go where the Hinckley based rider won the Sprint to claim his 8 Stallard victory in 8 starts and 11 wins in Stallard events out of 15 starts—an outstanding achievement. Team Boss Mick Ives says, “The Ex Professional not only wins all before him but spends time Organising the Mallory Park Summer Ev.series and next weekend will be Organising and riding the LVRC National Circuit Championships Nr Lichfield. He also spends a lot of time Coaching and Advising our younger and less experienced riders—he is such a valuable member if the Team “
