Michelle King July 2011

The poor weather over almost all of the weekend made racing tougher than usual but didn’t prevent Team Jewson MI Racing from producing some outstanding results. On Saturday Derrick Woodings overcame the wind and rain on the exposed Darley Moor Motor Racing Circuit in Derbyshire to win his age Group at LVRC Darley Moor Circuit Race .

Then on Sunday Pete Smith won round 7 of the MSTINA Jersey Series on a tough course  in Hampshire in exactly the same conditions.  Pete outsprinted his rivals in what was left of the original bunch which was much depleted by dispirited riders who made an early return to the warmth of the HQ.

Meanwhile near Alcester in Warwickshire, Michele King won the Midlands 10 mile Time Trial Championships on a wet and windy course  in 22.16 beating international athlete Ciara Horne (who’s heading out to the Under 23 European Champs next week) into second place. Michele said,  ‘I’m pleased with the result because I’m in a block of heavy endurance work at the moment so am lacking top end power.’ Crikey, what will she do when on top form?

It was an action packed weekend for junior Josh Teasdale who finished 3rd in the Stockton Wheelers 25 mile time trial on Saturday evening with a time of 55:21 and winning the junior event by 16 minutes. Then on Sunday morning he travelled to Derby for the British Schools National 10 mile time trial and won that by just under a minute (and only 5 seconds off his own British Schools national record); this now secures him the ‘BSCA Best All-rounder National Jersey’ which is a superb achievement. Josh then travelled back to Stockton on the afternoon to ride the Riverside Festival Elite Criterium in which he finished 13th against some of the top pro riders in the country! It rained and blew a gale for all 3 events but it failed to dampen Josh’s delight at his amazing achievements.

An outstanding set of results for Team Jewson MI Racing.
