The Cold weather didn't put stop to some more sterling performances from members of Coventry's only elite cycling team; "Team Jewson--M.I.Racing--Polypipe" Nuneaton Lady member of the team Lindsay Nell, continued her early season form with 7th place in the Stourport on Severn Circuit Race on Saturday. She now only needs 2 more points to claim a 3rd Cat Licence. Meanwhile one of the Teams 2 U.C.I. World Masters Cyclo Cross Champions Phil Roach was in action at Tidworth in Wessex competing in the Wessex league event. 52 yr old Roach, starting in a group 2 mins behind the 40-49 yr olds, winning by over 2 mins on a technical and fast course. Roach caught all of the riders in the 40 group and finished over 5 mins ahead of World Champion in 60-65 class Dave Mc Mullen. Roach's times were only 5 secs a lap slower than the winner of the Senior race. where he averaged 22.6 km /hr over the all offroad circuit. Team Jewson--M.I.Racing--Polypipe were the most impressive Team Riders at the Midland Cyclo Cross 2014/15 series Awards Evening, held at Stafford on Sunday Evening, picking up 6 Awards in 5 different Age Groups. Phil Blacker won the Veterans 40-45 group, repeating his success from last season. Steve Knight finished a very close 2nd in the 45-49 group, despite missing several events through illness, and his team mate Lorenzo Buratti finished 3rd. Coventry's Peter Busby finished 2nd in the 50-54 group. Tim Stowe finished 3rd in the 55-59 group; again having to miss several events through injuries; and Nuneaton based John Gabriel finished 2nd in the 65-69 group. Team Boss and current World Masters Champion Mick Ives and team mate Peter Busby were present to collect the awards on behalf of the team.
