The unique Road/Offroad Cycle Race, organised by Barrie Mitchell for Team M.I.Racing, took place at Flecknoe, between Southam and Daventry.

The Race is called “Omloop van der Dries Dorpen“ and consists of 6 tough circuits totalling a distance of 35 miles, made much harder than normal by the addition of 1 ½ miles of unsurfaced road each lap. The 80 plus field of riders coming from all over the U.K.

For the first time in the running of this event the winner received the “Peter Baum“ Memorial Trophy, presented by Team M.I.Racing in memory of one of their most loyal members who sadly passed away whilst out on his cycle in September 2018.

Peter from Leamington Spa (formally from Eathorpe) was a former race team member with Barrie Mitchell, and M.I.Racing Owner Mick Ives, when they all were members of Coventry Cycling Club in the early 1960’s.

The race winner was Jeremy Honor from team JCA Equipe Velo and the Peter Baum Mem Trophy was presented by Peter’s wife, Jude, and his daughter Lucy.

The event was sponsored for the first time by Polypipe Civils and by Ride Coventry.
