Derrick Woodings

Rider on form at the moment 72 yr old Derrick Woodings, added the L.V.R.C. National 10km  Points Race Track Championship and the Individual Pursuit Championships plus 3rd place in 10km scratch Championships to his already very impressive list of British Championships making it the 4th National Title won by Coventry based Team Jewson M.I.Racing Thule this season. Clearly sending out a message to younger riders, that life doesn’t end at 40.

Further success for the Team , when Lady rider Samantha Anderson (Coventry) won the Midland 10 ml Time Trial event for Ladies with a very fast time and personal best of 23 mins 12 secs to win the race by over ½ minute and 9th fastest in the whole Male/Female event. It was touch and go for Sam as she was held up in traffic on the way to the event and only arrived in time to get on her bike and get to the start, with no warm up what so ever. She was also pleased that the week end before’s  ½ Iron Man race in Northamptonshire had not taken too much out of her, she now moves up into 2nd place in the series, with 1 more event to go.

New Lady member of the Team Catherine O’Carroll, riding her first Time Trial for 5 years, finished a brilliant 4th fastest in the Coventry C.C, event, at Wolston. With a time of 25 mins 12 secs. Team mate Mick Ives (Baginton) recorded 24-40 with a rare appearance in a Time Trial.

Circuit racing champion Martin Hackley (Dunchurch) finished 2nd at the Milton Keynes Bowl meeting, in the 60+ race and Team mate and Ex Professional Phil Wilkins was 2nd in the 50+ race

Hinckley based team member Mike Twelves, had his biggest test since returning to the sport after 23 yr gap , when he competed in the British Cycling Federation National Veteran Road Race Championships held over a tough 90 mile course. Twelves was one of 6 riders fighting it out for 2nd place, and just missed a Podium place by finishing a brilliant 4th. This followed a 4th place in the midweek event at Mallory Park, Leicestershire.

Junior rider Michael Riley, will be out of action for several weeks following a training accident  and a broken hand.
