2 of our cyclists were in brilliant form over the weekend. Mike Twelves from Stapleton Near Hinckley won the "Classic of the Walls" Cycle Road Race in Majorca which is a 68 mile race held in 35 degrees, and includes 6 ascents of a 1 in 3 Cobbled Climb. 52 year old Twelves rode as a Professional in Spain in his younger days. This was Twelves third Road Race victory in 5 starts. In a few weeks time, he will compete in the I.C.F. World Masters Road Race Championships in Belgium as part of a strong M.I.Race Team. Kirby Bennett from Burbage Near Hinckley continued his run of Mountain Bike Victories when he won Round 6 of the Midland series at Eastridge Woods, Near Shrewsbury, with Team Mate Tim Stowe from Wellesbourne in3rd. This was Bennett's 7th Victory since joining the team 3 months ago. He will now go for the U.C.I.World Masters Championships in Andorra. Both riders will be trying to follow in the footsteps of Team Boss Mick Ives, who gained 3rd place in the I.C.F. Worlds on the Road, and was twice 3rd in the U.C.I.World Masters Mountain Bike Championships.
