Triple for Jefferson
It was another busy day on Sunday 26th November for riders from the Coventry based Team Enable-M.I.Racing-McCann. The teams cyclocross riders were in action in the Central and West Midlands Cyclocross leagues.
In round 10 of the Central League, held in Hillingdon, Ray Cochrane battled his way to 5th place in the 60+ age category race after being hampered at the start. This was his best result of the season so far.
In round 11 of the West Midlands League held at Walsall Arboretum, on a surprisingly tough course, in cold and muddy conditions, it was the third win in a row in the under 16 race for the teams young star, Jefferson Tear-Verweij. Jefferson is building his form well before the National Championships to be held in January 2024.
At the same event, in the 50+ age category race, Darren Atkins powered his way round the pan flat but muddy course to take 1st place by over two minutes from the second placed rider. New team signing Mark Shepherd had a brilliant ride to finish in 3rd place. Nick Popham was 6th, Andy Jackson 45th and Alan Buxcey 51st.
In the 60+ age category race, Phil Roach finished in an excellent 2nd place, Pete Busby 6th and Tim Stowe, still regaining form after a broken shoulder, finished 8th.
In the senior race, Tom Bradley finished 10th.
In the 40+ race, Colin Miller finished in a superb 2nd place. After a strong start, Colin battled hard with the first 3 riders to achieve his best finish of the season so far.
Next Sunday will see many of the teams cyclocross riders competing in the regional championships.
