Cycling Championship for “Didi”

Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–McCann rider Diana Egerton–Warburton, better know as “Didi”, became the fist member of the Coventry based Cycling Team to win a National Championship  for another Country.

On Saturday Didi won the Israeli National Ladies Time Trial Championship in the Golan Heights area. The race was over 23.6 km, and held before 8-00am, but already the temperature was up to 24 degrees. The out and back course included 12 km of climbing on excellent roads.

The M.I.Race Team, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has won over 100 National Championships, but this is the first from another country and something to be very proud of.

Didi lived and worked in Israel, but is now working at Warwick University and this is her 2nd full season with  Team Jewson. It’s been a great season for Didi, with many top places in open events,
and a steady improvement in performance times. Team Boss Mick Ives, said, “I am really pleased for Didi as she has worked so hard during the winter months to reach a very high level of fitness and has
impressed us all with her recent rides.”

Andy Oliver continues his battle to get into top shape, following his recent Leg operation, when he finished 8th fastest in the Northants Tri Club Open 10 mile event with a time of 25 minutes 35 seconds on what is considered a slow course.

Team mate, Veteran Simon Law, from Nuneaton, was in brilliant form on Wednesday evening in the Leamington C and A.C. / Coventry C.C. joint promotion 10 mile event at Princethorpe, when he clocked a brilliant 20 minutes 54 seconds, his fastest of the season, team mates Mark Wise recorded 21-15 and Andy Jackson a personal best with 22-34.
