Local riders had success in two different Cycle Race events at the weekend.

Radford Semeley based 55 year old Mark Wise, who rides for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–McCann-7 formation, based in Coventry, stormed round the 23 mile hilly Banbury Star time trial including the very steep climb of Sunrising Hill, to win the Veteran section and finish a brilliant 6th fastest overall in this very tough race.

Mechanical problems prevented team mate and course record holder, Jack O’Neill from making it three wins in a row.

On Friday Evening, Kenilworth member of the M.I.Race Team 51 year old Darren Atkins, was a clear winner of the 50+ race held at Wibtoft, near Hinckley, and organised by Rugby Velo C.C. Atkins was 5th in the World Masters Championships in Belgium and 3rd in the European Champs in Italy, when they were last held in 2019. At the same meeting team mate Kirby Bennett finished 2nd at 40 secs to former British Champion Pete Harris in the 60+ race.
