Despite terrible weather conditions over the weekend, members of Coventry’s Elite Cycle Race Team—Team Jewson—M.I.Racing—Polypipe—McCann still managed to produce some brilliant results.
The Final event in the National Cyclo Cross series was held a York in very muddy conditions. Veteran Ex World Champion, 58 year old Phil Roach finished 10th in the 50+ race. Starting on the 4th row of the grid, Phil worked his way up into a brilliant 5th place before getting his machine tangled in course marking tape, which not only cost him valuable time but more important a chance to make the Podium.
His 14 year old team mate Josh Jackson, was also unlucky, when he finished in 8th place, last of a group of riders who contested the finish for 5th place.
The following morning Roach put matters right when he dominated the 50+ race as part of the Central League series at Corby, In terribly muddy conditions Roach chose to use File Tread tyres instead of Studded ones, and rode sections that other’s were unable to winning the event comfortably.
16 year old Jude Chamberlain, was also in great form winning by a large margin the under 16 Race.
A record number of riders will contest the L.V.R.C. National Cyclo Cross Championships at the Adventure Sports venue, off Primrose Hill, Warwick on Monday 30th December at midday. Admission is free and the event is being organised by Team M.I.Racing.
