Coventry Cyclist Diana Egerton-Warburton, riding for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–McCann, finished a brilliant 3rd in the Tour of Cambridge International Time Trial for riders 40+
This latest performance follows a string of vast improvements this season in Open Time Trial races.
Another Lady member of Coventry’s only Elite Cycle Race Team – Samantha Anderson was also in action, when she finished 3rd in the World Championship qualifying Aquabike race at Chester. The event consisted of 1 mile swim followed by 25 mile bike and Samantha was only 30 secs behind 2nd place but 2 minutes ahead of the 4th finisher. Samantha competes in the European Championships in Portugal in September.
Nearer at home Ben Rooney was fastest rider in the Rugby RCC Evening 10 mile time trial with a time of 21 minutes 8 seconds and Leamington based member Mark Wise was 5th fastest in the Hinckley evening 10 mile event, held on the reputably slow Wolvey course with a personal best time for the course of 22-19.
Next Sunday will see the 3rd Open Race promotion by Team M.I.Racing this season, when 80 riders all over the age of 60 will contest the 2 stage event held at Napton.
Stage 1 is a 3 1/2 mile Time Trial and 3 hours later riders will contest a hilly 36 mile road race. Organiser Mick Ives has received entries from as far as Scotland, Devon, South Wales, South Coast, London and
other areas in the U.K.
Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–will field 5 of their Veteran riders. The Time Trial starts at 9-30am , and the Road Race at 12-30am. The Event is Sponsored by JEWSON.
