With the cycling Time Trial season now in full swing, it was a brilliant result for the Midlands based team in the Coventry Cycling Club Diana Cooke Memorial 10 mile open time trial. The race, held on the K11/10T course on the A45 between Rugby and Ryton, took place in near perfect conditions on Sunday 5th May. The team’s new, ‘fast man’ signing, David Mead, won the open category in a time of 19 minutes and 47 seconds. David was the only rider to go sub-20 minutes.

Teammate Thomas Bradley had a superb ride in his first ever open time trial to finish in second place in the road bike category, clocking a time of 23 minutes and 5 seconds.

In the same event, Greg Ashley finished in 25th place in a time of 23 minutes and 37 seconds and Zoe Shepherd started the race but failed to finish after stopping on the course to assist another rider who had crashed.

The team’s Time Trial success continued mid-week in the Hinckley Cycle Racing Club, 10 mile event on the K41/10 course at Wolvey Heath. On a very pleasant, warm evening, David Mead once again took the honours in a time of 20 minutes and 18 seconds. Teammate Simon Law, riding his first race of the season finished third on the night in a time a 21 minutes 54 seconds. Oliver Seale, riding a standard road bike was fourth overall in a time of 22 minutes and 1 second.

About a dozen of the team’s riders will be heading to Dumfries and Galloway next weekend to race ‘The Gralloch’, the UK round of the official UCI Gravel World series of races. The 111km route features almost 1800m of climbing and will give the chance for age group riders to qualify for the Gravel World Championships to be held in Belgium later this year.
