4 more for Team Jewson–M.I.Racing
Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–McCann were once again back to their winning ways with 4 victories competing at 4 different venues in the U.K.
On Saturday the Teams leading rider Darren Atkins from Kenilworth, was in cracking form at Round 1 of the British National Cyclo Cross Trophy event at Derby, finishing in 2nd place behind his big rival Professional rider Nick Craig and against the U.K’s best.
In the 60+ race Former National Champion, Kirby Bennett finished a brilliant 5th after leading early in the race. His team mates Phil Roach finished in 9th place after a low gridding position, Wellesbourne’s Tim Stowe was 20th, Peter Busby 21st and Alan Parson 32nd in a field with over 100 riders.
Atkins followed his Derby ride with an outstanding victory in the latest round of the Midland series, at Ullenhall near Henley in Arden, breaking away in a group of 4 at the start. He attacked half way through the 45 minute race to finish 45 seconds clear of the 2nd placed rider, with Steve Knight, once again having to make up lost ground after another bad start to finish in 4th place, with Jimmy Goodwin 24th.
In the Over 60 race Pete Busby finished 3rd and Tim Stowe 5th, to improve their overall standings in the series.
Jefferson Tear recovered from a nasty crash at Derby to finish in 3rd place in the Under 16 years race and it was yet another Victory for Karren Summers in the Ladies Veteran race – once again well clear of her rivals in a faultless display of offroad riding.
Phil Roach was also busy with 2 races in 2 days, when he finished a close 2nd in the Central League series event at Whipsenade, and well clear of the 3rd rider, but Junior rider Jude Chamberlain stole the show when he and another rider finished 4 minutes clear of 3rd place in the Under 23 / Junior race, with Jude taking victory in his first Cross event of the season.
Riding their final Time Trial of the season Mark Wise recorded 21 minutes 23 seconds in the Cardiff 100 milers R.C.C. Open 10 mile event near Abergavenny (Wales), and Diana Egerton-Warburton signing off with victory in the Ladies race with a personal best time of 22 minutes 51 seconds. Diana is the current Israel National Time Trial Champion. A great way to end her very successful season.
