Rugby based Craig McKee, who races for the Coventry Elite Cycle Race Team–Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe–7 formation–McCann– produced the performance of his life when he competed in the “UK Ultimate Triathlon” at Whitchurch, Shrop’s. on Sunday.

Craig was competing in his 1st ever Iron Man distance Triathlon. The Warwick school teacher, who uses his commute to work and back as part of his keep fit programme, caused a massive upset at the event by winning the Veteran section with ease, producing the fastest Bike split of ALL competitors, with a time of 4 hrs 47 mins and finishing a fantastic 6th best overall. All this in his first attempt at this type of competition!

The event consisted of 2.4 mile Swim,112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. His total time was 9 hrs 46 mins 30 secs. Team Boss Mick Ives said, “We have an award for the best performance by a Team member during the season and this performance will take some beating.”

Over in the East Midlands Junior Team members Jack Fothergill from Warwick and Jude Chamberlain competed in the C.T.T. National Circuit Time Trial Championships at South Kilworth.

Jack competed in the Junior Championship for riders on aero bikes and finished a brilliant 5th against the U.K’s best Juniors with a time of 1 hour 16 mins 10 secs for the undulating 32 mile race whilst Jude Chamberlain won the Championship for riders using standard road bikes with a time of 1-20-09. 2 more fantastic performances by the Coventry based Team!

This was Jude’s 5th race victory this season.

Further north Jamie Haworth finished 10th fastest in the Matlock 10 mile time trial in Derbyshire, riding a standard road bike and not like those who beat him on an aero bikes he recorded the time of 22mins 10 secs. His best time of the season.

Next weekend Jude Chamberlain and Ben Pierce are expected to compete in the Junior Tour of Yorkshire 2 day road race.
