Team Enable—M.I.Racing—McCann were once again winning races around the country.

The team has dominated the Midland Friday Night MTB series from the first round, and last week was no exception. The final round was held at Delapre Abbey in Northamptonshire. Hinckley-based Kirby Bennett (60+) and Nick Popham (50+) found themselves locked in battle after Kirby had caught Nick towards the end of the race, despite being gridded well behind. The race also included riders aged 40+, so Kirby was giving away as much as 20 years.

There was little to separate them at the end, with Nick outsprinting Kirby for the line. On the night, both won their age group with ease, and Nick finished 5th overall, with Kirby in 6th place. In the overall series, Nick Popham has won the 50+, Lindsay Newman has won the Lady Veteran series, and Ryan Henry the 40+ series, with Kirby Bennett 2nd in the over 60 series despite not having contested all of the series events.

Simon Law continued his excellent form by being fastest in the Hinckley Evening 10 ml Time Trial with a time of 21 mins 32 secs, and teammate Oliver Searle recorded the amazing time of 22:09 riding a standard road bike.

The winners of last year’s Chronos RT 2 up Time Trial near Cambourne, Andy Jackson, and Andy Oliver, finished a brilliant 2nd place in this year’s event. Very strong winds made it a tough first few miles, but they recorded a course best of 21 mins 44 secs.
