Keeping you up to date with the latest goings on in and around the Team 2 New Members, Time Trialist Veteran Lady, Didi Egerton Warburton, who works at Warwick University, and Veteran Road/Time Trial rider Jeff Baird, formally with G.S. Metro up in north east of the country. He has now moved down to live near Malc Moore in Burbage, and will race along side Malc, Rob O’Connor, Mick Allen and Martin Hackley, forming a very strong older group. We wish them both every success in our Team colours.
Some cracking results in last weeks Coventry C.C. Open 10 mile TT. 3 riders producing 20 min rides is a rare thing in this area but Jack Fothergill looks like he has recovered for his recent accident and produced a fantastic ride with 20 mins 20 secs – his first time on the course.
He was closely followed by his junior team mate Ben Pierce with 20-24 again first time on the Dunchurch-Ryton course, and Senior rider Jack O’Neill recorded 20-43, but we still didn’t take the team victory! That went to our ex members Josh Giddings, Richard Oakes and Geoff Giddings.
Other team performances were Mark Wise 21-18, Jamie Harworth riding a standard road bike 22-28, Greg Ashley 22-34, Andy Oliver, riding his first Time Trial for several decades, after major surgery on his right leg which now has a large metal plate fitted, only recently back riding the bike, recorded a brilliant 24-07, and lady rider Didi back in competition after a long gap 26-24. A great effort by all concerned.
It was also good to see former National Champion Matt Clinton, out on his bike supporting the riders. We hope everything is going alright for Barrie Mitchell, who followed Derrick Woodings and Mick Ives, by having a pace maker fitted recently. I have heard that he is already riding the turbo trainer every day, and it wont be long before he is back out on the road, good luck Barrie, we wish you the best!
