The Come Back Rider

56 year old Geoff Giddings produced another brilliant performance for “Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–7 formation–Polypipe–McCann” cycle race team, when he finished  second in the Matlock C.C. Cyclo Cross race on Saturday.

This event was the first Cyclo Cross for Geoff in the past 10 years, having retired from the sport to concentrate on work and coaching his young son Josh who is now on the National Squad.

Geoff finished just 6 seconds behind top Veteran Simon Hale (Army C.U.), but more impressive, over 3 minutes ahead of the 3rd place rider.

Geoff will be a very important part of the Team when they defend their British Team Championship in January at Crawley, Surrey.

Prior to this event, Geoff has ridden 2 Time Trials, winning the recent Solihull Hilly 25 mile event and finishing 2nd in the BMCR National Champs the following week, so he is clearly a rider on form.

Team Boss Mick Ives said, “We now have the strongest Team in the 50+ Age group nationally, and will be chasing that National Team Championship for the 5th time!”
