It was another great weekend of Cyclo Cross Racing for Coventry based Cycling Team–“Team Jewson–M.I.Racing–Polypipe” with podium places at 4 different venues across the U.K.

British Veteran Cyclo Cross Champion, Phil Roach finished 3rd in Round 5 of the National Trophy series, after a hard fought battle with 2 younger Ex Professionals (Tim Gould and Chris Young). Roach is currently lying 2nd in the series.

In Wales— Silver Medallist at last week’s Welsh Championships, Mark James kept the Team to the fore, by winning the Veterans Race and finished 4th overall in the combined Senior/Veteran Race.

At Hillingdon, West London Pete Smith of Monks Risbrough , Buckinghamshire; showed his great recovery from a recent back injury by leading for most of the 4 lap race. Unfortunately Pete fell on an adverse camber and never regained the lead. Then, following a crash with a lapped rider, he was caught by another  of his main rivals. Bad luck struck again as Pete lined himself up for a sprint for 2nd place – only to be caught in yet another collision with another lapped rider!! This all happened in the sight of the finish line meaning Pete had to settle for third.

Midland  series Champion 2013 and currently leading the series again this year Phil Blacker dominated the Veteran Race at Top Barn, Near Worcester and also finished 5th overall in the Senior/Veteran  race despite the fact the Veterans start 1 minute behind the Seniors!!

So that tallies 4 Podium places at different Venues across the U.K.–few Teams can achieve those sort of results!

Next weekend the Team fields a very strong Team at the Rugby Velo promotion at Mallory Park–part of the Midland series.
