Coventry’s Michael Riley recorded his first ever Cyclo Cross victory when he won the Under 23yrs Cat at the “Beeline—Cyclo Cross at Botley nr Oxford on Sunday”
The Team Jewson-Polypipe youngster ,who has slowly been improving this season , was really delighted with his victory, a just reward for all the hard training he has been doing in the evenings recently—Michael who is at full time College, trains with his uncle Peter Busby–also a member of the team and currently leader in the Midlands over 50 Championship series
Kenilworth’s Darren Atkins, The UK’s No 1 Veteran Cyclo Cross rider this season , also competed at the same meeting , but chose to ride in the Senior Race, rather than with the Veterans , and use it as training , for Rd 3 of the National Trophy series at Durham next weekend—which he is leading—and finished an excellent 3rd.
In the Veterans 50+ Race Peter Busby ( Coventry) finished 3rd, but only a few hours earlier , had finished 2nd overall and 1st 50+ rider in the Elizabethan C.C. LVRC Race at Baggeridge Country Park , Nr Dudley.
