
Darren Atkins (Kenilworth) riding for Team Jewson M.I. Racing Thule, has just been confirmed the Winner of the 2012/13 Midland Cyclo Cross Series adding yet another championship to his ever increasing tally, and providing his Team with more honours.
Atkins who during the recent Cyclo Cross season, rode 21 races winning 18, finishing 2nd twice and 3rd once a fantastic performance. Second in the Midland series was Darren’s Team Mate and former Champion Steve Knight, who also won the championship for riders 45 and over. And in 4th place was another team mate Phil Blacker. with Lorenzo Buratti 6th in the 45+ championship, despite breaking his arm, half way thro the season.
Other Team members included Coventry’s Alan Buxcey riding his first Cyclo Cross season finishing in 9th position in the 40 + an impressive performance. Tim Stowe from Wellesbourne finished 2nd overall in the 55+ championship, and John Gabriel (Hinckley) won the 60+ championship.
Tim Stowe was back in action at the weekend finishing 2nd in the Gorrick Skeddale Spring Mountain Bike Series at Tunnell Hill, Mutchett, Surrey, riding in very cold and difficult conditions.
The Classic Tom Sabin 2 day Cycling Challenge, will be on Sat/Sun 8/9th June, and will form part of the Coventry Festival of Cycling there will be a limit of only 50 riders on this very special challenge, and Organiser Mick Ives, says a new and very informative web site will be available in next few days.
