Kenilworth’s Darren Atkins, riding for Coventry based “Team Jewson M.I.Racing Thule” has regained the lead in the National Cyclo Cross series, following a masterly display in round 3 of the season long series, held at the weekend at Southampton.following weeks of rain, it was a surprise to find the course fast and dry,all of which suited Darren, who started the race in 2nd place overall following his only defeat of the season in round 2 at Ipswich 2 weeks ago, where he finished a close 3rd,having won Rd 1 in Abbergavenny, S.Walesthis time he, he made no mistakes, and pushed the Rd 2 winner back into 6th place,, which meant he has opened up a handy gap in the overall positions, and will now go into Rd 4 at South Shields in 2 weeks time, as Series Leader.once again confirming him as the U.K.’s Leading Veteran Cyclo Cross rider.
Team MatePhil Roach from Rugbyonce again finished in 2nd place in the race for riders 50+, and is still in 2nd place overall in that series, he also will be in action at South Shields in 2 weeks time.
Just hours before both Atkins and Roach, had attended the Team Jewson M.I.Racing Dinner and Awards Evening at the Dunchurch Park Hotel, Dunchurch, Nr Rugby, with over 60 Guests, Chief Guest were Mr Alan Rushton M.D. Sport for Television, and David Harman Eurosport Commentator.

So another 2 Podium places for Jewson riders, at National level racing. Atkins and Roach will have chance to gain more honours next Saturday, when they compete for the first time in the L.V.R.C. National Championships, held at Moreton Hall, Moreton Morrell, Nr Wellesbourne and sponsored by “Jewson”, and organised by his own Team M.I.Racing. Other Team riders include:
Mark James, Alan Buxcey, Pete Smith, Pete Busby, Tim Stowe, Barrie Mitchell, Vic Haines, John Gaberiel, Mick Ives and Graham Clements.
The Race starts at 1200 Noon, and Admission is Free.
